Put your digital photo to music before you email 'em off  -  Dan Mitchell

Sending photos in an email is pretty impersonal. Most of the time those precious images end up in the Recycle Bin or "saved" at the bottom of someone's inbox. Today Roger shows you how to wow the pants off of grandma (sorry for the visual) or score some brownie points from your significant other by creating a multimedia photo album that looks like you really put some effort into it.

AlbumDIY is a wizard-based program that'll let you design every aspect of your photo album and then email it to someone as an executable. They don't need the program on the other end to open the album.

The album is completely your creation. You're in charge of pretty much everything, including front cover art, page design, binding, color, texture, text -- you name it. You'll be able to see the changes as you make them. Here's how you use it:

1 Click "Create a new album" to get started.

2 Follow the wizard to start customizing the look of the album. You can use stock designs and graphics or browse for your own.

3 Once your album looks the way you want it to look, the wizard will walk you through adding photos.

4 Adjust the layout of the pages by clicking a picture and resizing it on the page.

5 Add more pictures to the page and adjust until you have the desired layout.

6 Add text and graphics to the pages if you want.

Now it's time to add music so when someone opens the album, they'll be greeted with some mood-setting tunes:

7 Click Insert and select New Multimedia.
Choose an audio file. As far as I can tell, any audio format works. (I used MP3.)

When you're ready to send off your creation, click File and choose Build/Distribute Album. Here's where you can password-protect the album, save it to your hard drive, and email it out.

AlbumDIY also includes a slide show mode, full screen mode, and picture-only option. It's a fun, easy-to-use way to send photos to your friends and family. The results look amazing.
